Poker With Fred is a friendly poker coach and weekly home of three community games on the NSW / VIC border. Fred runs the tables at the Barooga Hotel (Barooga, NSW) on Monday nights and The Grand Central Hotel (Cobram, VIC) on Tuesday mornings and Sunday afternoons. If you want to learn the game, sharpen your reads, or just join a welcoming local table — you're in the right place.

What you can ask about

  • One-on-one coaching — video lessons, hand-history reviews, drills targeted at how you play.
  • Joining a weekly game — $30 buy-in, 75,000 starting stack, optional $5 add-on for season league points. New players welcome at every game.
  • The newsletter / community — weekly playable ideas, common leaks, and the occasional hand to puzzle over.
  • Anything else — questions about format, what to expect, dress code, where to park, who else is at the table. Ask away.

No. Every game welcomes first-timers and the table will help you find your feet. Send Fred a quick message before your first night so you know what to expect.

Not strictly — you can rock up — but a quick hello first means Fred can save you a seat and walk you through the format.

Where exactly are the venues?

The Barooga Hotel is in Barooga, NSW; The Grand Central Hotel is in Cobram, VIC — just across the Murray River from each other. Both venues are well-known local pubs.
